What is Stop the Bleed?

Launched as a national awareness campaign and call to action, Stop the Bleed is designed to train and equip bystanders to control life-threatening bleeding during an emergency — whether it's a car accident, workplace injury, or unexpected trauma. Similar to how CPR can save someone in cardiac arrest, bleeding control techniques can help save a life before emergency responders arrive.

Why It Matters to Us

Uncontrolled bleeding is the leading cause of preventable death after injury. It can take only minutes to lose a life, but it takes just minutes to learn how to save one. For us at Gulf Coast Blood, this mission hits close to home. Blood donors provide a vital resource for trauma patients, surgeries, and emergency situations, and Stop the Bleed empowers people to take immediate action while that lifesaving blood is on the way.
