BEARing Gifts – A Season of Giving
This August, Gulf Coast Blood and BEAR Houston are teaming up to make a difference in the lives of children in need for National Back to School Month. We invite our blood donors to contribute school supplies for children who are at risk or involved with CPS.
From August 1-15, 2025, drop off new school supplies at any of our Neighborhood Donor Centers in BEAR Houston’s designated donation bins. Your donation can help ensure that these children start their school year on the right foot.

BEAR is the only 501(c)(3) organization working with Harris County CPS and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services that offers unique programs – that provide not only the basic needs of children recently uprooted, but also supportive services that provide comfort, dignity, and celebration of successes that propel the child toward a successful future – for abused and neglected children.
Each fall, BEAR’s Back to School program, which serves over 11,990 children annually, helps ensure that children who might otherwise go without having the confidence, normalcy, and school supplies they need to start the school year off right. Resources like backpacks and school supplies make a HUGE difference in the life of a child’s academic success.
