This August, Gulf Coast Blood is partnering with BEAR (Be A Resource) to support children involved with or at risk of entering CPS care as they head back to school. We invite our blood donors to donate school supplies to help these students start the year with the tools they need to succeed.
From August 1-15, 2025, drop off new school supplies at any of our Neighborhood Donor Centers in BEAR (BE A Resource) designated donation bins. Your donation can help ensure that these children start their school year on the right foot.
You can further enhance your impact by shopping directly from BEAR’s (BE A Resource) Amazon list at BEAR (BE A Resource) Back to School: Supplies List, making a monetary donation, or contributing your Donor Rewards points. Let’s work together to give back and support our community’s children!
BEAR is the only 501(c)(3) organization working with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) and Harris County Resources for Children and Adults that offers unique programs – that provide not only the basic needs of children recently uprooted, but also supportive services that provide comfort, dignity, and celebration of successes that propel the child toward a successful future – for abused and neglected children.
Each fall, BEAR (BE A Resource)’s Back to School program, which serves over 16,432 children annually, helps ensure that children who might otherwise go without having the confidence, normalcy, and school supplies they need to start the school year off right.
Resources like backpacks and school supplies make a HUGE difference in the life of a child’s academic success. To assist BEAR (BE A Resource) in providing as many Back-to-School essentials to these children, we invite you to participate in several ways. Learn more
