Sharon Garcia

Associate Vice President of Quality Services

Sharon Garcia serves as the Associate Vice President of Quality Services, where she leads teams responsible for corporate oversight of technical, administrative, and manufacturing quality standards, as well as the project management office. With over 35 years of industry experience, Sharon has consistently driven excellence in quality assurance, compliance, and adherence to government regulations and industry standards.

Before her current role, Sharon served as the Director of Quality Assurance. She has been an active contributor to the advancement of the blood banking and healthcare fields by participating in numerous industry-specific committees. Her leadership roles include serving as Vice-Chair and Chair of the American Blood Centers (ABC) Quality Steering Committee, as well as holding memberships in the ABC Regulatory Review Committee and Blood Centers of America Vendor Qualification Committee. Additionally, Sharon has been a member of Gulf Coast Blood's Institutional Review Board since 2002, and she currently serves as its Chairperson.

Sharon's academic background includes a master's degree in health care administration from Texas Woman's University and a bachelor's degree in medical technology from the University of Texas Allied Health Science Center at Houston. She is certified as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) and a Certified Quality Auditor (CQA). Her professional memberships include the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and the American Society for Quality (ASQ), where she is recognized as a Senior Member.

Sharon is a devoted wife and proud mother of two successful daughters. A lifelong Houston Astros fan, she fondly recalls attending games at the Astrodome and was thrilled to witness the Astros’ 2022 World Series Championship final game at what was then called Minute Maid Park, now known as Daikin Park.
