
Marc Lewis
Vice President of Operations
Marc Lewis serves as Vice President of Operations at Gulf Coast Blood, where he leads all blood collection operations, including the Mobile and Neighborhood Donor Center teams. He also oversees Component Manufacturing, Hospital Services, and Regional Operations. With more than 30 years of experience, Marc’s leadership drives operational efficiency and supports successful patient outcomes throughout the organization.
Marc began his career in the blood industry in 1992 as a Hospital Services representative at Gulf Coast Blood. He quickly advanced through various management roles in the Hospital Services department, earning recognition for his commitment to patient safety and operational excellence. In 2004, Marc was promoted to Director of Hospital Services, where he managed the regional blood supply with a steadfast focus on patient safety.
By 2008, Marc’s role expanded to Director of Production Management, integrating Hospital Services and Component Production to streamline blood manufacturing processes. This critical position allowed him to significantly enhance organizational efficiency. In 2016, his responsibilities grew further as he took on a combined role overseeing Production Management, Neighborhood Donor Centers, and Regional Operations, where he led a team of 240 employees with exceptional leadership and strategic expertise.
In 2017, Marc was promoted to Vice President of Operations, where he introduced a multipronged approach to improve efficiency and ensure successful patient outcomes. Under his guidance, Gulf Coast Blood has excelled in meeting the needs of hospitals and patients. In 2024, Marc leveraged his extensive expertise in operational efficiencies to implement a centralized approach to donor collections. This initiative unified Neighborhood Donor Centers and Mobile Operations, enhancing capacity and streamlining processes to optimize donor collection opportunities. Marc also contributes to the broader blood industry as a committee member for Blood Centers of America’s National Contracting and Plasma Committees. Additionally, he collaborates with the National Blood Collaborative Inventory Workgroup, leveraging his expertise to address blood inventory challenges and opportunities.
Beyond his professional life, Marc actively participates in his fraternity, Omega Psi Phi, where he leads volunteer initiatives like the Fatherhood and Mentoring program, guiding school-age children on education and life skills. He also plays a key role in the Adopt A Family program, assisting families with basic needs during Christmas and back-to-school seasons.
