Esmeralda Ancelmo-Walker

Director of Donor Recruitment

Esmeralda Ancelmo-Walker is the Director of Donor Recruitment, where she leads efforts to ensure sufficient quantities and types of blood donations are collected to meet patient needs. With 10 years of experience in the blood banking industry, she oversees donor recruitment operations across the Houston, Brazos Valley, and East Texas regions. Esmeralda works closely with the community engagement team to establish partnerships and increase blood donor awareness in the Greater Houston Area through mobile blood drives and community initiatives.

Esmeralda develops and implements strategies to meet donor collection goals, analyzes statistical data to optimize recruitment efforts, and oversees partner retention to encourage repeat blood drive campaigns and donations. Esmeralda also coordinates training and development for her team by implementing different Sales and Relationship Building programs to further collaboration with our community partners.

Esmeralda’s leadership and impact were recognized in 2024 when she was awarded the Leader of the Year for her success in the Battle of the Badges campaign, which significantly increased blood donations from police and fire departments across the region.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Sciences from Texas A&M University, with a concentration in Emergency Management. Outside of work, Esmeralda enjoys reading and listening to books across all genres and is always on the lookout for new recommendations.
