Daniel Welder, M.D., MPH

Medical Director

Dr. Daniel Welder is the Medical Director at Gulf Coast Blood. He is a dedicated physician with specialized expertise in Hematopathology, Blood Banking, and Transfusion Medicine. Dr. Welder provides medical oversight and education for blood donor collections, reference laboratories, and cellular therapy collections. He is board-certified in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology, with additional certification in Public Health.

Dr. Welder completed his medical training at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso and earned a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. His post-graduate training includes residency in Clinical Pathology as well as fellowships in Transfusion Medicine and Hematopathology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. With a strong commitment to clinical excellence in improving patient care, Dr. Welder has contributed to numerous publications and abstracts in the fields of transfusion medicine and hematology and continues to work towards the development of advanced cellular therapies.

Beyond his clinical and academic work, Dr. Welder develops educational curricula for pathology residents and fellows, furthering the next generation of medical professionals in his field. His ongoing contributions to transfusion medicine and public health reflect his passion for advancing patient care and the science behind medical practices.
