Carlos Vital, M.D.
Carlos Vital, M.D., serves on the Board of Trustees for Gulf Coast Blood. Dr. Vital is recognized locally, regionally, and nationally for his expertise in allergy and asthma, medical education, health care policy, and community affairs.
A graduate of Louisiana State University (LSU), Dr. Vital completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, followed by a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology. He has been in private practice in Houston since 2005 and currently serves as President and CEO of Vital Allergy & Asthma Center.
Dr. Vital is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Texas A&M School of Medicine and serves on the Board of Directors for the Texas Health Services Authority, advising Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas State Legislature on health information exchange and digital health data. He also served as a healthcare and small business adviser to leadership in both the U.S. House and Senate during the 118th United States Congress.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Houston Academy of Medicine and the Texas Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Society. He is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. Additionally, he is a member of the National Medical Association, American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, and the Houston Medical Forum.
Dr. Vital also holds the position of Secretary/Treasurer of the Harris County Medical Society, the largest county medical society in the United States. He serves on the medical staff of Memorial Hermann Southeast and The Methodist Hospital in Houston.
Dr. Vital was named the 2025 Physician Champion in Health Care Policy by the National Board of Physicians & Surgeons and was honored as Physician Champion for Allergy & Immunology by St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.
Dr. Vital is married to Dr. Karla Vital, a physician board certified in Obesity Medicine and Nephrology, with a concentration in fluids, electrolytes, and nutrition.
