The Krewe is Back: Mardi Gras Returns in 2024
Join the Krewe and donate blood! Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center and Mardi Gras! Galveston are partnering again to kick off the 2024 year. Together, we set our eyes on another year of saving lives and addressing our community's ongoing need for blood. Donors will receive a complimentary general admission ticket to Mardi Gras! Galveston when they donate blood from January 18 to 24, 2024.
Mardi Gras! Galveston is the third largest Mardi Gras celebration in the United States. It is renowned for its island-style festivities and diverse events. From the classic revelry in the heart of Galveston's historic downtown district to family-friendly parades, this celebration offers an exciting experience for everyone.
As part of the partnership, Mardi Gras! Galveston extends its gratitude to blood donors by offering a complimentary general admission ticket. The complimentary ticket can be redeemed at the festival for an unforgettable day of fun and excitement on any one of the following dates: February 2, 3, 4, 9, or 10, 2024. This token of appreciation is our way of expressing gratitude for your selfless act and contributing to the well-being of others, especially during the winter season.
During winter, our community historically witnesses a decrease in blood donations. This poses a challenge for maintaining an adequate blood supply for life-saving transfusions, medical procedures such as surgeries and organ transplants, emergencies, cancer treatments, and childbirth complications, and supporting medical research and development.
Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center plays an essential role in supporting 170 hospitals in a 26-county area, including the largest medical center in the world, Texas Medical Center, with blood, blood products, and biotherapies. With our community's help, we need 1,000 donations every day to serve our area hospitals best.
Donating blood is a simple yet impactful act that can be done once every 56 days. A typical whole blood donation takes approximately an hour and has the potential to save many lives. Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center urges our community to donate more frequently, making giving blood a part of their routine and a meaningful way to give back.
Join us in saving lives, celebrating the spirit of giving, and reveling in the festive atmosphere of Mardi Gras! Galveston. For more information or to find a location to donate, please visit giveblood.org/mardigras/.
