Good Things Come In Threes: Saving Lives, Bringing Joy & Giving Hope
The holiday season is here, and with it comes the opportunity to give back and make a difference in our community. Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is proud to continue its beloved Holiday Hugs tradition from November 1 to December 15. Partnering once again with BEAR Houston (BE A Resource for CPS Kids), we are offering several meaningful ways for those looking to bring holiday cheer and give back to their community.
Holiday Hugs, our annual giveback, invites generous donors to write heartwarming messages for patients spending the holidays in hospitals. These messages are attached to cuddly teddy bears, which are delivered to local hospitals to bring comfort and smiles to those in need during the festive season.
In addition to helping hospital patients, we are proud to partner alongside BEAR Houston for the third year to provide new holiday gifts to children under the care of CPS through the BEARing Gifts holiday program. This effort ensures that children who might not otherwise experience the magic of the holidays receive gifts and joy during this special time.
“We are excited to join forces again to spread joy, hope, and love throughout the community, making the holidays a little brighter for those who might otherwise not feel the warmth of the season,” stated Merri Hahn, Community Outreach Manager at Bear Houston.” This partnership over the last three years has allowed us to connect more donors with BEAR’s mission to create hope and help for children in need in the greater Houston area.”
We invite everyone in our community to join us in making this holiday season brighter in three meaningful ways:
1. The Gift of Saving: Donate blood at any of Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center’s 18 Neighborhood Donor Centers or mobile blood drives.
2. The Gift of Joy: Donate a holiday toy for a child in CPS care, helping to bring smiles and joy this season.
3. The Gift of Hope: Write an uplifting message to a patient spending the holidays in the hospital, spreading warmth and encouragement.
Toy collection containers will be available at all 18 Neighborhood Donor Centers, and well-wish cards will be provided for those wanting to send messages of hope. If you are looking for a way to give back, this is a perfect opportunity to make a lasting impact on patients and children in need during the holiday season.
